A little help getting your band connected and your recordings playing.

[email protected]

Take House is preparing for launch and is not yet available on the App Store.

Get started

  1. Turn on iCloud Drive. Use the Apple Account signed in on your iPhone.
  2. Create your band. In Take House, choose Create a band, then select the top-level iCloud Drive folder where you keep its recordings. Existing subfolders can stay as they are.
  3. Send both invitations. Open Band → Invite bandmate → Share band invitation. Separately, in Files, touch and hold the audio folder, tap Share, choose Collaborate, and invite the same bandmates with permission to make changes.
  4. Connect each bandmate. Each person accepts both invitations with their Apple Account, then chooses that same shared folder inside Take House.
  5. Start listening. Open Recordings to play a file. Add recordings to songs to keep versions together, and choose Main when you want the band to practice a particular take.

Joining a band? Your bandmate handles the first three steps. Accept their band and folder invitations, then connect the shared folder in Take House.

Listening & invitations

A recording is missing or will not play

Check that the file is visible in the shared folder in Files and that Take House is connected to that same folder. Select the top-level band folder, including its subfolders, rather than a single recording or a folder under On My iPhone.

A file stored only in iCloud needs an internet connection to download before it can play. Let it finish syncing, then return to Take House and pull down on Recordings to refresh. The app plays MP3, M4A, and WAV files.

How do I listen offline?

Download the recordings in Files before going offline; use Keep Downloaded where available. Test playback before you lose your connection. Available phone storage and iCloud settings affect what stays downloaded.

Why are there two invitations?

The band invitation shares songs, Main choices, and other library information. The iCloud Drive invitation gives access to the audio files. Accept both using the Apple Account signed in on your iPhone, then choose the shared folder inside Take House.

If an invitation is missing or no longer works, ask the band owner to send it again to that Apple Account.

New recordings or notifications are delayed

New files appear as iCloud syncs them and Take House checks for updates. Background checks are scheduled by iOS and are not immediate. Open the app to check for new recordings.

To allow alerts, open the band’s Settings and look for Notifications. You can also change permission in iPhone Settings → Notifications → Take House. After changing permission, reopen Take House while online so it can update registration.

Manage sharing

Band information and audio have separate access controls. Review both when someone leaves the band or should no longer have access.

Band information

The band owner can open Band → Invite bandmate → Share band invitation to reach Apple’s sharing controls and manage participants. If you are a member and want to leave, ask the owner to remove you; Take House does not currently have a separate Leave band button.

Audio folder

The folder owner can touch and hold the shared folder in Files and choose Manage Shared Folder. Choose a person to remove their access, or Stop Sharing to end sharing for everyone. See Apple’s folder-sharing guide.

Removing access cannot recall copies someone already saved. Deleting the app does not delete the band’s shared recordings or library information. For data requests, read the privacy policy or contact support.
